DIY CANDLE REFILLS
Love a little hands-on crafting? Our DIY Candle Refill Kits let you refill your favorite jars from the comfort of home.
Each DIY Refill Kit includes pre-measured soy wax, a wick, and your chosen fragrance. No mess, no measuring—just melt, pour, and enjoy.
IN-STUDIO REFILLS
Use our sustainable candle refill service by returning your cleaned-out candle containers to be refilled with your favorite fragrance. Please allow approximately 2 weeks for refills.
San Diego customers:
Make an appointment to drop off your empty, clean 1502 Candle Co. jars at our Studio HQ.
National customers:
Ship us your cleaned containers to our Studio HQ. Include your name, email, and chosen fragrance. Once your refills are ready, we'll send an invoice—and after payment, ship it back to you. (Shipping fees apply.)

How to Clean Your Container Before Refilling
Use our recommended double-boil method:
- Place your jar in a pot with water just below the jar’s rim.
- Heat gently on medium-low until the wax melts without risking glass breakage.
- Discard melted wax in the trash—not the sink.
- Remove wick tabs (a butter knife works well).
- Remove labels if you’d like a fresh fragrance sticker; otherwise, keep as-is.
- Clean the jar using hot, soapy water.

How Does the 1502 Candle Co. Refill Program Work for Local Drop-Offs?
Bring your clean, empty candle container to our San Diego studio. We’ll record your fragrance choice and contact details, then refill your jar with our hand-poured soy wax candles. Once it’s ready, we’ll email you an invoice and a link to schedule your pickup.
How to Refill a Candle Jar by Shipping It to Us
Mail your candle jar for refilling, including your name, address, email, and chosen fragrance. Once your refill is complete, we’ll send your invoice. After payment, we’ll ship it back to you. You are responsible for shipping charges.

Do I Need to Remove the Old Wicks Before Refilling?
Yes — we can’t attach a new wick if there’s leftover wax, old wicks, or adhesives in the jar.
Should I Remove the Old Fragrance Label?
If you want a new fragrance label, please remove the old one. We only apply new labels to jars originally from 1502 Candle Co..
What Candle Fragrances Can I Choose for a Refill?
You can select from any of our core candle fragrances. Limited editions are not available for refills.
Can You Refill Custom Candle Containers?
Yes! We can refill most non-porous containers that are at least 1.5 inches wide, no taller than 5.5 inches, and have a mouth diameter similar to the body. If the container has held a candle before, it will likely work.
Note: For custom jars, wick performance may vary since we haven’t tested every shape and size.

What Do I Get for Returning My Bottles?
Bring your bottle back and receive $2 store credit for each one returned. This helps us reuse diffuser bottles and reduce waste, keeping packaging in circulation and out of the landfill.
