This Month’s Fragrance Story: Salt Water & Agave

Where do we look at 1502 Candle Co. when we need ideas for our next new fragrance? Nature is one of our biggest sources of inspiration. And we love creating products that harness the intangible aspects of the seasons. But one thing that remains a constant source of joy in Southern California, where our company is based, is the ocean. 

Since its release, our Salt Water & Agave candle has remained a customer favorite. We’re excited to tell you a bit more about its creation and why we think it resonates with so many of our shoppers.

Picture Yourself at the Seaside…

Whether it’s a jog along the cliffs on a cool, foggy morning or sipping a drink during the golden hour once the haze has burned off, the Pacific Ocean has formed the backdrop for some of our favorite summer memories.

Water naturally promotes a meditative quality too. So when you light our travel tin or apothecary jar candle, we hope you can hear the waves crashing and calming your mind and body just like we do.

Salty Mist, Sage, Jasmine & Coconut

Scents that we associate with a day at the beach can quickly turn from refreshing to cloyingly sweet. And no one wants to remember what spray sunscreen tastes like. This is why we took special care to create a fragrance that is balanced and intriguing at the same time.

First, we started with warm and comforting base notes of amber, tonka bean (similar to vanilla with a dash of cinnamon), and coconut. Next we layered in agave flower, jasmine, and lily of the valley for hints of nectar. Sage, citrus, and of course, salty ocean mist brighten and round it all out. 

With the Salt Water & Agave candle, we know that what we have created is a very special rendition of a hard-to-capture time and place, and we’re confident our customers would agree.
